Outrage as Chef Dammy reportedly charges N1K for food (Video)

Chef Dammy, a professional cook from Ekiti, Nigeria, has once again found herself at the center of controversy. Recent reports have emerged claiming that she is charging N1,000 for her food, sparking a heated debate among the public.

This controversy arises amidst an ongoing 120-hour cook-a-thon, which aims to set a record for the longest cooking time. However, a young Nigerian lady has taken issue with Chef Dammy, accusing her of placing a price on the food prepared during the marathon. In a video that has gone viral, the lady alleges that the food was initially offered for free during the first two days of the event but Chef Dammy later introduced a mandatory charge of N1,000 for those interested in eating the food.

According to the lady in the video, "So, coming from the stable of information, they said that no free food today. You have to pay N1,000 if you want to eat food; yesterday was free."

The public response to Chef Dammy's decision to charge for her food has been diverse, with various individuals expressing their opinions on social media. Let's take a look at some of the different viewpoints:

DAMIADENUGA criticized the decision, stating, "This breaches the rule of setting the record as selling the food isn't allowed 🥹"

AdahorX offered a different perspective, suggesting that Chef Dammy's need for expensive foodstuffs could be the reason behind the charge. They commented, "What do you expect after hating? She needs more sponsors to buy expensive foodstuffs. More love, less hate."

adegunna_julius called for support from the community and the government, saying, "This is the time the enterprising spirit of the Ekitis should come in. The state government should be involved. Sponsors, both private and corporate, should contribute."

Saint_of_Africa expressed doubt about Chef Dammy's financial resources, questioning if she can sustain the cook-a-thon. They remarked, "At this point, I strongly doubt if she has the financial resources to continue. They will just start boiling rice and more rice."

Nonsoeze431 urged caution and suggested that the accusations may not be true. They pleaded, "What if it's a lie? You guys should not discourage this girl, please."

charlek_ criticized the focus on popularity rather than finding sponsors, stating, "Of course, this is the kind of stuff hungry girls do TikTok for, to trend. She can't make a video on how she can ask for sponsors to support her. We have to be better as a people!"

jouslaw speculated that Chef Dammy might be using personal funds instead of seeking sponsorship. They wrote, "Hilda could have had free sponsorship, but Dammy may be using normal funding."

The controversy surrounding Chef Dammy's decision to charge for her food raises valid questions about the legitimacy of the cook-a-thon and the motivations behind her actions. Some argue that the involvement of sponsors, both from the government and private corporations, could alleviate the situation and ensure the success of the event.

As opinions continue to be divided on social media, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact Chef Dammy's reputation and the future of her cooking marathon.
